First things first, this is a farm called Þorvaldseyri, which is seen in front of Eyjafjalljökull the volcano that erupted in Iceland in 2010.
So, this image is made up of 30 photos. It is 5 column 2 row HDR panorama. Each image in the panorama was made from 3 photos merged in photomatix. The panorama stitching was done in Hugin, and post processing was done in Photoshop.
Also, the title is slightly misleading... if you look closely there is actually steam rising from the volcano in the background, and considering it erupted only a year and a half ago, definitely NOT sleeping.
I saw the thumbnail and thought it was a desert, but then I noticed the mountains in the background which was interesting I used this as an example for a weekly Mini-contest at #SkyAndNatureClub. Hope thats ok! If you want to see then the blog is here - [link] . Thanks!
